Trixie Mixed Media Canvas

Here is another canvas/scrap page/mixed media/art piece etc etc. I said in a previous post here that I had stopped doing cards (not forever, just taking a break and trying some new things) so instead of cards I've been trying to make up wall hangings or canvases for my friends and family birthdays rather than cards.

This canvas is for my sweet young cousin in Saskatchewan. Her beloved dog Trixie passed away a few weeks ago and she's been really sad. I reallly wanted to do something to help make a tribute to her *pretty girl* and maybe ease her sorrow. I am SO proud of you Baillee.

This was one of the canvases I had STARTED to try to do in the style of Anna Dabrowska... but... I just like the look of everything in it's natural colour?!?! I don't know if that's the right wording... LOL... I sure love these new laser cut wood or chipboard designs tho! Favorite new product at the moment!

OK!! Sure hope you like!!!

Our Story Canvas

Hello again! Back with another canvas project I have made my mom for her birthday. Altho I have to say.... this one I am loathe to let go, it may be one of my favorite layouts I have ever done to date. I was wanting to make her a couple of canvases for her birthday, originally I was planning on doing matching canvases of her 3 grandkids, but just couldn't find the pictures that worked for what I wanted to do (I am hoping my sister in law is going to help me with that this weekend!!) And I kept looking at this photo that my sis in law took of us....goodness... 5 years ago?!?! Crazy.... Anyhow, this is what came out of it. I so want to KEEP IT!

The photo just does not seem to do it justice. It's a 12x12 thick canvas, but I put that crocheted lace that I have painted Brown around the edge of the canvas so it sticks out nearly an inch on all sides. Then I've used some AWESOME papers by Theresa Collins (I am not happy that the name of the paper line has escaped thru one of the large black holes in my brain.... argh! it's beautiful and has a lot of Chalk like aspects to it!).

Anyhow, I hope you like it as much as I do...and well, I hope my mom gets to keep it! hahaaa

Fall ABC Challenge Blog Hop

It's time for another Challenge at Creative Accents and we're kicking it off with a BLOG HOP! Yay!! Im so happy to have you here today. If you've just happened along my blog hop on back over to the beginning (Creative Accents)

The challenge is pretty simple! Create any paper based project and include:

A- Alphabet (letters or words in any form)

B- Bling (pearls or gems and other blingy things)

C- Chipboard (letters, shapes, or whatever you've got in your stash)

Your project can be any theme, but if you want 'extra credit' make it an Autumn or Halloween project :) hmmmmm.....wonder if I should try for the extra credit?!?! LOL Whadaya think??

Here's my ABC creation....

I LOVE the fall.... you may or may not have heard me say this before! LOL But every year I make my hubby take me for a drive so we can just admire the colours and this particular year I took quite alot of photos along the way as well. So when Tara gave us this challenge I knew exactly what I wanted to do. A layout using these photos. Now I've used NO DP!!! Can you believe it!?!? LOL I've just used cardstock. I have this AWESOME Big border punch from EK Success that I made the 2 strips of leafs with and then used the leafs to add some extra below. Then I've used the current SOTM in the bottom left corner to make up a swirly fall leaves accent peice. I was really happy with how it all came out. here's a few close ups of it all.
You can see my A for Alpha's element here in my little Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type stickers for the quote and then for the B for Bling...it's hard to see but there's some little yellow gems in the centers' of those leafs.

And there's my C for Chipboard!
Allrighty then folks! Thanks for stopping by and leaving me some love. :o) Your next stop is my buddy

Here Comes the Bride Layout

This is a layout I did at a recent crop at my LSS Creative Accents. I wanted to do an all black and white LO with just one colour as an accent for these photos I took of my sister in law on her wedding day this past long weekend. I've used some great papers from Imaginisce (that I've been wanting to use, for a wedding layout since I saw them come in there a few weeks ago) Anyhow, I made the title using Quikutz alphas.....oh what ones were they.... crap! I dont remember. I like the whole thing, but I think my fav is the Bling by Zsa. Here's a close up of it.
Purdy huh?? :o) Anyhow, the LO is on display at Creative Accents in their handy dandy wedding SECTION (how smart is that! I discovered it AFTER I had looked around the store! LOL) and everything I've used on here is available there as well. (well, except for the photos. HEHEHEE)
Thanks for looking everyone. Make sure you stop by the store this week! Their having a nice 25% off sale to celebrate our clean air!!! LOL
Cheers

Another Scrapbook Layout ~ McNuggett

Im on a bit of a scrapbook kick lf late (be patient my card making followers, the cards will be back...well tonight there'll be a card!!). I went to a crop at Creative Accents last night and made up this layout, with one of my favorite photos of Bradley when he was young.....eating his FIRST McDonalds happy meal with Chicken nuggets....*Sigh*
Those of you who know my son should get a chuckle out of this as well....it was my downfall. Chicken became the ONLY meat that child eats (even now 10 years later) And he would most prefer to eat that chicken in the form of a chicken nuggett. So when I stumbled across this picture I knew what I wanted to do with it! LOL

OK, so the papers I've used are some Kraft bazzil, The striped paper is by Fancy Pants and the yellow flowers are from Cosmo Cricket. We (Tara helped) cut the french fries out with the silloette machine (aren't they awesome!!LOL) and I made the little M's myself. I hope you like it, I was proud of this one. :o) Im going to take it back to the store so they can display it for awhile, I just took it home with me to show Jay and take a picture of it.

Cheers

Our Journey Layout ~ Cosmo Cricket

Most of the time the awesome ladies over at Creative Accents give us DT's pretty much free creative reign and we just bring them whatever our little creative minds desire, but once in awhile they make a special request, and this week it was to come up with something, a card, layout, project of some type using one of 2 Cosmo Cricket paper lines. I was given the Fast Lane line of papers and made up a scrapbook page of my Journey with Tonka for his surgery. The horrible ride down there and his trip in and out of the clinic. I didn't have alot of photos of the actual trip so I just used a fav shot of mine of him and then one of the night we picked him up (WARNING! If you are at all queasy about that sort of thing...dont zoom in on the photo as his leg is pretty nasty looking, I left off the close ups of it as well...no one really wants to see that, those will stay in our private albums. :o) )
SO absolutly everything I've used here (well except for the adhesive! LOL) Is from Cosmo Cricket, even the letters are from their blackboard letters, I've just covered them in one of the paper lines. The journalling is very small....there was alot to fit on to there. And man....I almost blew it as I had to put it thru the printer 3X before it came out right...and well...the last time was just a cross your fingers and hope sort of deal as I was sure I was out of paper and that idea was hooped. But it came out allright in the end. Anyhow, I hope you like my LO and if you need any of these fabulous papers yourself, for a hopefully BETTER journey than the one my Tonka and I had above here.... go see Creative Accents. They have lots! :o)

The Fur Kids Mini Album

I've been meaning to post this project for awhile now. I started making this mini album at the big Skraptacular scrapbook event I went to a few weeks ago with Shelley. This was my project for the weekend. It will probably always be one of those works in progress as it's a book on my furkids and their funny quirks. And they have MANY quirks....LOL

On the front cover (above), I've used one of my favorite Whipper Snapper stamps as the image and oh dont you love this new EK Success Paw Print border punch I found?!?! Saweet!! The paper is a cool pattern I found of Kaiserkraft, I have to say I always fall in love with their papers.

Ok so the first page inside the book is the intro page:

These are my fur babies... aren't they sweet. First up is Timbit (Husky) and the little word bubble says "The Broken Sled Dog" Next up is Pilchard (sweet looking tabby cat) and the bubble says "The Queen Bee", then we have Monster Kitten, and the bubble says "The Brat" and then the big happy dog is Tonka and his bubble says "The horse dog" These are my fur babies. :o)

Next page, and the first "story" is of Pilchard.

It's fairly explanatory... and SO TRUE! This little cat is only sweet LOOKING!! LOL She keeps the dogs and Monster kitten in line! The images I've used here are from Penny Black and The Artistic Stamper. I was really happy with how this page turned out.

This next page is my fav of the book so far. The idea came to me and well...it worked out EXACTLY as I had planned. This is Tonka... and his BALL! LOL I've made each tennis ball with some flocked yellow paper (Thank you SHelley!!) and a white pen... I wish the photo was better and you could see the tennis balls and read the journalling as it's hilarious and well if you ever need to make a tennis ball embellishment, THIS is the way to do it!

OK! and the last page I've done is of Timbit...the Broken Sled Dog as we call her. :o) She's just so darn sweet and innocent looking that no one can get mad at her.... even when she's digging a hole in the yard.

Thank you for checking it out, hope you like it.

Tommorrow is the big day!! I'll be drawing for my candy winners (yes I said winnerSS). I've been so excited at seeing the followers jump and climb...well I'll be awarding a few batches of goodies. Some surprises! :o) Ciao for now!!!

Scrapbook Pages from my Weekend Crop

Ok so this weekend past I was at an all weekend crop put on by some of my dear friends at a local elementary school. These events are just so much fun to go to! What a great way to spend the weekend, nothing but scrapbooking with friends in a room full of people who share the same passion as you. It's absolutly amazing!! And while Im not the quickest scrapper by any means, I always get some fun stuff done! So, as promised here are the layouts I did while at the crop.
First of all is this FUN layout of me and my BFF Shelley. We share a passion for GOOD coffee and well Starbucks is our favorite spot. I've stamped on everything here! LOL I've used my fancy new Skipping Stones stamp set to make my background papers as well as a coffee set from Gelatins. I liked how the picture I took of the coffee cup worked on the page. I had taken the picture AFTER I drank the Carmel Macciato... so I used the top of the cup as my journal spot!

OK Next up!
My CUTE Timbit puppy! Isn't she adorable?! And she looks like she's smiling!! Which Im sure she is as she's such a happy dog. The PP I've used here is from BoBunny and the other circles I've made with some Fiskars stamps. I really liked how this simple layout turned out. Just a fun one.

This was from our trip to Saskatchewan 2 years ago (yes.... Im a bazillion years behind...) We headed there for my cousins wedding and we had to stop to take a pic of Bradley in front of each Provincial sign. He really enjoyed seeing the country on our drive...I enjoyed it abit...would have been better if I hadn't been driving the whole way... MAN! THat is a LONG drive! LOL Anyhow, my papers here are sort of a miss mash. The main paper in back is from Creative Memories. Then the orange paper is from boBunny. I cant remember the name of the lined paper stuff... darn what is it?!?! Anyhow, I've also used some cool chipboard stickers and ribbon and well, the awesome new punch I bought at Creative Accents!! Love that one, I think it's one I'll be using ALOT!

Ok...moving along....
This one Im prolly gonna be in crap for! I took these pictures of this old farmhouse on the same drive as in the LO above. My mom was with us and well....to make a long story short, after some road construction and perhaps the LONGEST stretch of road without seeing a single town my poor mom was darn near floating out of the car..... we had no choice but to find SOMEWHERE for her to um.....go... LOL and well, there are a serious lack of trees and bushes to hide behind!! So we finaly found this old abandoned farm house for my poor mom to hide behind. And well.....unfortuatly for her...her daughters' scrapbook mind took over and thought WHAT A GREAT LO?!  so viola!! here it is. ;o) heheheheeeeeee

OK and the peice de resistance... (I have no idea if that is spelt right...lol)
I have 22 pictures on this page!!!! OMG! Do I know how I did it?!? LOL not really...it just worked. Barely. I found a sketch (I wont tell you where I got it as I was NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT!) the sketch says cut your pics to 2"x4" and in the drawing it shows the first 3 rows all on the same page with abit of a border around them.... ya....I didn't do the math myself till after. THAT does not work. Anyhow... I worked it out myself and well. Im pretty happy with the results. 22 PICTURES!! Hello! That has to be some sort of record!

Ok, so I bought this paper at Creative Accents (ya, we made a couple trips there to "stock up" you know that kind of serious scrapping depleats your stash!! heheheheeeee cant have THAT!) I was not really happy as the paper was called Hunting and Trapping and well.... that is not cool in my world so we changed it to happy tracks (or I did....Im not sure the paper company knows that or agrees with me, but I live in denial..it's ok)

OK! I think I've rambled on enough here. Thanks for looking. I had so much fun making all these layouts, I really do need to focus on scrapbooking more. I so enjoy it.

Project 12 ~ January 2010 Page Layout

Over at the Scrapbooks & Cards Today Blog they are doing a really neat thing. Project 12 is a challenge to do one scrapbook layout a month (something I SHOULD be doing anyways) and at the end of the year you will have possibly a full album? or at least a year done right? anyhow, check it out HERE. I, unfortunatly did not get this first sketch done in time to enter into the draw for this month, but I didn't want to let that stop me from getting the full year done (and in my defence the ONLY reason it didn't make it was I was really sick) Anyhow, I still wanted to do the month and well... I WILL NOT miss the next deadline!! The sketches to follow are my Becky Fleck (um, if you dont know who that is... well! As a scrapbooker, You NEED To. :o) she's responsible for the Pagemaps I love so dearly) Anyhow, this was January's sketch:
And this is what I've done with it.
I am embarrased to say I've not made a scrapbook layout since last fall! Im ashamed of myself. Ive become so adicted to making cards (and ya, I at one time swore I'd NEVER start them.... see why?!?! LOL) Scrapbooking will always be my first love. I vow that you will see alot more scrapbook layouts in the near future from me. This particular layout is of my family's favorite winter sport (or welll my boys fav.) Playing on the frozen lake out back of our house. This year it was with the GT sled my brother gave my son Bradley for xmas, they hooked it up to the quad and spent hours flying around the lake. So fun. :o)

The papers Ive used here were by Scenic route and Fancy Pants. I've also used rubons from BoBunny and snowflake stamps from CTMH. Anyhow. Thanks as always for looking!

Ellie

This is my lovely neice. She makes me smile just thinking about her. I dont get to see them enough and well, I'm so glad I have pictures of them, cause it helps me miss them less and well, then I get to use my girlie stuff on a scrapbook page! Scrapbooking truly is my first love, and well, I think Im better at it than at the cards thing. This LO came together pretty easily for me. The papers were all bits from my scrapbin. The Letters were cut out on the Cricut (Opposites Attract Cart)and the Butterfly stamps are a set from CTMH.

Special Bond

This is a LO I made of my favorite picture of my mom with Bradley. My mom NEVER smiles in a picture, she's always so uncomfortable in front of the camera and well, i was so happy to have caught her in a natural smile. It helps to have had my handsome boy there with her, cause as the LO suggests the two of them have a very special bond. They love each other so much and well, they really do take care of each other. My son spends every summer with my parents. Its hard on me to be away from him for so long but he needs this time with them and they with him. Anyhow, the papers Ive used here are from BoBunny's Beau Jardin line, cardstock and heart dies are from CTMH. Ive used some cute stamps that I got from errrrr...somewhere....I lost the package awhile ago, but they're so cute! About Grandparents. Anyhow, the little saying below the picture says "what happens with grandma, stays with grandma!" so true!!!

Dad's Mini album

So I'm making an accordian album for my dad for fathers day (he'll never see this! LOL). It's a 9x9 accordian from CTMH. Im not really loving this so far, I like the pages Ive done but the book itself is not really stable, I think in the future I'll stick to my chipboard or acrylic books, but oh well. It just falls down really easy and the edges I'm sure will get wrecked easily, specially on inside pages as the inside is just cardstock, not board. Anyhow. This is the front cover of Bradley's side. Dampa (the name my son gave Grandpa when he was small)'s Boy. the PP is from.... crap....it's right there on the tip of my tongue, About A Boy is the name of this line... but by who? crap crap crap... I will check when I get home. The letters are from my Cricut and from CTMH die cut sheets.

The second page of Bradley's side is this one. The Turkey Buzzard is what my dad has called Bradley since he was born (I dont know why, it's just the first thing that popped into his head at the hospital when he held him for the first time and well.... not it's kind of endearing, really!! LOL) OMG I cried looking at all these pictures when I was picking them for his page. Hadnt looked at them in a long time and well... I miss my little turkey buzzard. ALOT more than I thought. OK so Im an emotional freak anyhow, but.... moving on. The star paper is actually from Bo Bunny, it's been in my stock pile for awhile (Shelley stop laughing! I dont have THAT much paper!!! LOL REALLY!) the Cardstock is from CTMH and well... I think that is it. I found the poem on a scrapbook page I found in a mag but it was for a little girl so I just altered a few words.

This is the cover of the other side. The Girlies side! Love my girls... miss my girls. (my brother's girls for those who dont know me) The papers are all CTMH (I must be on some kind of kick lately, using them ALOT!) and the clear buttons!! Dont you LOVE THEM!! new fav thing!! from CTMH as well.... I must buy more so I never run out!!! LOL

Anyhow... that's it so far. I have the inside of the girls page almost complete now and then I just have to do Bradley's older pics on the last page and it'll be done so I can send it off. I also have a few birthday cards to make..... I'm hoping for rain this weekend so I can lock myself in the pink room! (shhhh! I may get shot for that comment!) ;o)

My Spot

OK, so here goes. My very first blog entry. Bear with me people this is all VERY new to me. So I want to load some of my scrapbook pages to begine with. Since those are the only things I have photo's of. Cards will have to come later... soonish, hopefully.
So this page was one of my favs. This is our "horse-dog" Tonka. He really thinks he's human for one and a "small" human at that. He has his own bed and chair in the living room (he's not allowed on my couches), but he's taken to trying to sneak into Jay's chair (the one in the photo) He knows he's not supposed to be there and he wont look at you when you catch him. He's such a character.
I can't remember the exact papers that I used. There's only one PP there. I used CTMH stamps and of course glitter!! (I love glitter, it runs thru my veins I'm sure). The title (TONKA) are stamped with CTMH alpha stickers and then I stamped paw prints thru them and cut them out. The sub title of Yours and Mine are done in double sided sticker letters (from MM) with Glitter Ritz. and the chipboard arrows have Doodlebug Sugar Coating on them. (Told you I love Glitter!)
