It Takes a BIG Heart Mixed Media Canvas

Helloooooooo!!! **I swear I can hear an echo in here** lol
So awhile back it was a dear friend of mines birthday and I'd been saving a quote in mind for something for her when I was finally able to make something for her! I promised myself awhile back that I would eventually make every one of my dear friends one of my canvas wall hangings, and it was Marianne's turn. :) I of course... left it to the last minute and well, lol ... I worked on it right up till the minute I had to leave for our monthly girls birthday lunch! It was still wet in places when I gave it to her!!!! haha!! So... I did not get a chance to photograph it before I gave it to her. So this past weekend when some of us got together again to do alittle crafting I asked her to bring it along so I could finally take a picture of it and post it on here for all to see!!!

Marianne is a teacher of little ones, and if you KNOW me IRL you know that I admire anyone who can surround themselves with other peoples children all day and not go stark raving mad (or maybe they already are.... wink wink) Anyhow, I found this quote on Pinterest of course... cause I LOVE PINTEREST... follow me here if you like it too?!?!? and knew I had to save it for Marianne.
It takes a Big Heart and alot of coffee, to teach little minds
OK so I may have added the coffee part myself... but you get the idea. hehe I found that postcard/vintage photo in some epherma I got from Limor Webber when I took one of her classes last fall, then I searched around my studio for various items one might find in a classroom like the pencils and crayons. I just LOVE making drips with my hot glue gun so I made some melting crayon.
Now... does anyone else have this problem a lot ^^^ pictures that save sideways?? I know I rotated them in my editing software and they are saved upright but when I import them here or in FB they turn themselves back over... any advice on how to fix this? It happens almost every single time now for me.....

.... a lot!! ugh! OK... so... did you also know that my old buddies over at Southern Ridge Trading Co are now hosting monthly challenges?!?!? They are!!! I am so excited for them! And since I have used some cool, fancy stars on this canvas I am going to enter this over there on their first Anything Goes challenge!!! You should too!!!  Ok... I'm gonna fly off now and see what kind of art stuff I can get into today! :)
Happy Crafting friends!

Reverse Canvas ~ Family

Hello my crafty friends. It's the new year!! And it's going to be MY year! I am determined to let this be the most creative year of my life!! I hope you are ready to see EVERYTHING along the way too! I will have another post later today or tomorrow talking about the AWESOME Life Book 2015 I have signed up for but for now I have a project I finished quite some time ago last year that I had made for another member of my Fibromyalgia support Family, she FINALLY has it in her possession so I can show it to you now!
I had seen a couple *reverse canvas* projects and I was just dying to give one a try. I still have some great product from Southern Ridge Trading Co and so I wanted to highlight some of that great stuff!! (while I had to step down from the DT for a time as I was in a dark time, I'm hoping they'll have me back someday... soon?) So!! Here it is! I'll give some details below!

So, this is not the greatest picture (I'm going to have to work on my photography skills when it comes to my work), sorry bout that. I have used some metal tape, embosssed and then I used alcohol inks and black acrylic paint to distress it inside the frame, and then I've used some script design paper, with distress stain on the frame itself. That Butterfly corner piece, The Family title and the clock piece are all from Southern Ridge

I've covered them in some Glitter Ritz Purple glitter... sooo sparkly.... and then I just had fun adding STUFF that I knew my dear Traci would love.
Okey Dokey friends! I'm gonna go back to the easle now and finish up the current painting so I can post it and tell you about the AWESOME Life Book!!!!
Thanks for looking!!!

Mixed Media Creative Canvas with SRTC

Hello everyone! Cheri here!! With my first post on the new Southern Ridge Trading Co. blog! Whooo hoo!! Have you been enjoying the projects by my talented team mates? Made with this awesome new Canadian company's chipboard shapes? I am over joyed to have joined this team and I am so happy to show you this project. As many of you are as well, I have been having a BLAST with the new mixed media sensation that has hit our crafty paper crafting universe and it's ALL I've wanted to do for some time. And these shapes from SRTC are PERFECT!! I was inspired by the colours of another mixed media artist on Pinterest (psst... I'm a Pinterest JUNKIE....come follow my boards here) and anyhow I found this GORGEOUS canvas and wanted to use this as inspiration. Here is mine....

So I am addicted to quotes and word inspirations... and then I make these wall hangings. This one if its hard to read, says I'm Creative. You can't Expect Me to be Neat too! I started off with gesso and gel medium to glue down cheesecloth and then layers of flowers and fun chipboard!!! Check out these cool flourishes!!!

After laying down all of the embellishments there is layer after layer of paint and spray mists from Lindy's Stamp Gang and Tattered Angels. The title letters are from American Crafts Thickers. I sure hope you like what you see here, I will be starting some YouTube videos of my canvas art very soon, be sure to pop over to my blog Graphicat Creations to be sure not to miss them!

Trixie Mixed Media Canvas

Here is another canvas/scrap page/mixed media/art piece etc etc. I said in a previous post here that I had stopped doing cards (not forever, just taking a break and trying some new things) so instead of cards I've been trying to make up wall hangings or canvases for my friends and family birthdays rather than cards.

This canvas is for my sweet young cousin in Saskatchewan. Her beloved dog Trixie passed away a few weeks ago and she's been really sad. I reallly wanted to do something to help make a tribute to her *pretty girl* and maybe ease her sorrow. I am SO proud of you Baillee.

This was one of the canvases I had STARTED to try to do in the style of Anna Dabrowska... but... I just like the look of everything in it's natural colour?!?! I don't know if that's the right wording... LOL... I sure love these new laser cut wood or chipboard designs tho! Favorite new product at the moment!

OK!! Sure hope you like!!!

Our Story Canvas

Hello again! Back with another canvas project I have made my mom for her birthday. Altho I have to say.... this one I am loathe to let go, it may be one of my favorite layouts I have ever done to date. I was wanting to make her a couple of canvases for her birthday, originally I was planning on doing matching canvases of her 3 grandkids, but just couldn't find the pictures that worked for what I wanted to do (I am hoping my sister in law is going to help me with that this weekend!!) And I kept looking at this photo that my sis in law took of us....goodness... 5 years ago?!?! Crazy.... Anyhow, this is what came out of it. I so want to KEEP IT!

The photo just does not seem to do it justice. It's a 12x12 thick canvas, but I put that crocheted lace that I have painted Brown around the edge of the canvas so it sticks out nearly an inch on all sides. Then I've used some AWESOME papers by Theresa Collins (I am not happy that the name of the paper line has escaped thru one of the large black holes in my brain.... argh! it's beautiful and has a lot of Chalk like aspects to it!).

Anyhow, I hope you like it as much as I do...and well, I hope my mom gets to keep it! hahaaa

Abby's Canvas (that I made forever ago!!)

Well.... Apparantly I never posted this! Geesh! I was just looking at the blog as I do some posting and scheduling and I posted the canvas I made for my older neice Ellie but not Abby's! I have no idea what happens in my brain these days, but it sure doesn't function as it used to....

I made this sparkly pink creation for my sweet little Abby. Who, like her Auntie, loves all things PINK, sparkly and has four feet and fur!!! Yup! She is destined to be a crazy cat lady just like her Aunt... a crazy cat lady that will go berzerk over dogs!!! haha That little girl is an 8 year old Ceasar Millan!

I sure had fun making these up for the girls. I hope you like it too!!

Kitchen Canvas ~ Kraftin Kimmie

This is a canvas I've had in my head to make for some time now! I just never seemed to have the time to do it! I finnally made time and had some fun. So this is to hang on the wall on the way into my kitchen (after it hangs out at Creative Accents for awhile)
Sorry for the nasty pic.... I dont know.... I seem to have forgotten how or something...ugh!
heheheee. I just love this saying.... SO! This is an awesome image from Kraftin Kimmie!!! (Where I'm entering this in their challenge, which is to have flowers on your project....which is sorta a stretch, cause really... there ARE flowers on that apron, inthe print...honest! LOL But they said ANYWHERE) Those papers are from Little Yellow Bicycle and chipboard accents from Maya Road. Oh and that type is from a TH die! Upon a Time it's called!

Im thinking of doing this one as a class at Creative Accents, what do you think? Would you want to make one??

Cheers
Cheri

Just for Fun

Hi everyone! I thought I'd post a canvas I've made for my God daughter for Christmas. When she's been here the last few times she's been eyeing up the canvas wall hangings Ive got around the house and I thought I have to make one up for her! And since she's 12 and at that age when....well everything is tough and emotional for a 12 year old girl, I remember..... I wanted to make her something to remind her that being unique is what should be considered "KOOL" not what everyone else says. So, I made her this:
Be Yourself ~ Everyone Else Is Taken
I sure hope she takes it to heart, I think she will....she's such a great kid!
Now what I've done is painted an 8x10 canvas black and then sprayed it with some Lime Green Glimmer Mist. I've added some BG papers and cut the title out with my Slice machine. Ive been watching ALOT of Tim Holtz 12 tags of Christmas and so was inspired to make a tag for the rest of the saying! LOL I've of course used and EMO, this is Lola, from the Everyday Emo's line! Love her!
Anyhow! I hope you like, and maybe have time to make one yourslf?!?!
happy Crafting peeps!

Kids Just Want To Have Fun Blog HOP

Who hoooooo!!! Im so excited to be apart of another Blog Hop put on by the Fabulous Jess over at Kinderstampo!! You should have arrived here from her blog, if not, hop back on over there and join in the fun, we have LOTS of prizes and candy for you along the way!! My project for the hop this weekend is...for alittle older crowd of kids, my son is an 11 yr old xBox fanatic! So I've made a door hanging out of canvas for him, which he tells me is VERY KOOL (and that's Kool with a K for those of you who dont know Cool with a C...is well, the opposite of Cool! LOL or so Im told) anyhow, without further delay... here it is!!
I was purdy happy with the outcome. What I've done here is used a blank 8x10 canvas, I distressed the edge with some distress inks and then used some fundy DP paper from Kaisercraft. The image is a Mo Manning image (love it!!!) coloured with my copics and cut out with my new Wonky Square nesties. The title CAUTION is some Cosmo Cricket blackboard letters covered in more awesome papers. And then the Serious Players Only Ive used the Super Market font 4x8 alpha from QK (ooooh!! Another FAV!!) I've also done some stitching and then stamped those green circles on top with some green paint! And there you have it!!!

Now, your next stop is the UBER talented and my personal buddy

Enjoy your journey!!!

In With the New...Mixed with the New Challenge

So, long term followers of my blog and work may recognize this somewhat, therein lies the OLD part of my challenge. Over at Creative Accents they have a challenge, to use something NEW and combine it with some of your old stash. The challenge rules are as follows:

January's challenge is to take something NEW (maybe a Christmas gift or something you bought at our Boxing Week sale) from Creative Accents and use it together with something OLD from your stash (perhaps you've been hoarding it for a couple years... or more!?). Your project can be a scrapbook page, card, altered item or mini book. It must include some products that are currently or have been recently available in the store (purchased within the last 3 months). This is your chance to pull out something you've been meaning to use for a while: papers, stamps, embellishments, tools... and make it fresh for 2010!

Bring in your submission for our challenge by Saturday, February 6.

Everyone is welcome to participate. This is not a contest, entries will not be judged. All participants will have their name entered in a draw to win either a kit for our next challenge or a small gift if the next challenge is not kit based. Entries will be displayed on our creativi-tree in the Creative Studio for approximately one month, then returned to the participant. Happy creating!

So, what I have done is take an old design (along with all my stashed coffee themed stamps) and added the new Hero Arts large mug stamp that you see in the bottom left corner. Ive made a few other changes as well, for example the background I have painted red as before but rather than distress with some chalk ink I've sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Suede (which turned out so FAB!!! Wish Id done this for all of them.

I have made up a sketch with a how to list beside it, if you wanted to recreate one of these canvasses yourself, below is a little aid you can print yourself off.

I have used SO MANY STAMPS on here!! I will list them below here for you.
*TPC Studio, Coffee Cafe
*Grumpabella
*Fluffles from Stampendous
*My Favorite Things, Hot Stuff
*Crafty Secrets, Clear Art Stamps
*Hero Arts Coffee Mug

Please visit Creative Accents Blog or the store in person and join in the fun!!!

COFFEE!!!!! Canvas Wall Hanging

OK, so do you ever get so caught up in doing challenges that you forget to just do something for you? For fun? I do. SO! After getting frustrated trying to come up with the PERFECT idea for a Design Team call, I decided to take a break and do something just for me! And viola, here it is. This was so much fun for me. I LOVE coffee...and therefore buy any and every stamp I can find with a coffee theme to it....unfortunatly some of them have been waiting for their turn on the ink pad. SO! I think I used them ALL here!! LOL So fun!
Then AFTER I made it, I thought hey this is kinda funny and will fit into the Stamptacular Sunday Challenge!! LMAO SO!! Entering it I am! I noticed you cant really read the text on here so,the top line of text says: "I Dont have a problem with Caffeine, I have a problem without caffeine." And the bottom one, below the bella says "I dont do morning's untill I've had my coffee."
First I painted the canvas with MM Red Wagon paint and distressed it with some chocolate ink to tone down the red abit. Then for stamps.... I used, Grumpabella, Fluffles, All My Favorite Things, CTMH and my newest favorite coffee stamp set, TPC Studio's CoffeeCafe. I've coloured all th images with Copics and the coffee cups at the top (from TPC set) have "Foam" aka liquid applique and crushed instant coffee. The larger mug at the bottom (from CTMH) has brown embossing for the coffee. Im so happy with this whole thing. I hope you all enjoy it too. THanks for looking.

Cute Little Boy Canvas

This is a canvas I've made for my cousin. I've left the photo spot for her to place a photo in herself as the only pics I have of the new little man are via email and not of great quality when you try to reproduce them. The colours came out somewhat funny in the photo graph. the papers and rub ons are all from Kaisercraft. hope you like!

Budsy

This is the canvas i made for my mom for mother's day, this is their old dog that passed away last month and they miss so much. I know she'll love it but it will for sure make her cry.

All the paper is CTMH. The stamps used are from Cloud 9. this was fairly simple to put togther. I love making canvases.

A Boy Is...

I made this canvas for my cousin's new baby boy! I wanted to make something to hang in his room and I love this little saying. If you can't read it all it reads. A Boy Is.... Trust with dirt on his face, Wisdom with a cut on his finger and Hope for the future with a frog in his pocket. And it went so well with my Whipper Snapper stamp Eli and Frogger!!

I've painted the canvas with MM paint, the green letters are chipboard. Orange letters are cut with Quickutz. I cant remember the name of the PP at the moment. I'll have to look it up and come back! Damn.... I can almost see it!! Anyhow, I like how this one turned out. I hope she likes it too.

Scrapbook Forever

This was a fun project I did recently. Made one for each of my scrappin addict buds! It was SO much fun. I got the idea from a lady on Scrapbook.com who had made a similar doorknob hanger with this stamp and saying. The layout is totally different, but I used her initial idea. So it's on a 8x11 canvas. I painted it with MM Chocotate Brown paint, and may I just make a little note here that this paint ROCKS! OMG!! I painted 3 canvasses with this colour and it barely made a dint in the bottle AND it covers beautifully! And dries fast! There's nothing bad I can say about this stuff!! Anyhow...moving on!! LOL The stamp is from Hanna Stamps, domestic diva I believe is her name. LOVE it!! She comes with all the little cleaning supplies stamps as well. SO cute! on the little sign it says, "A Clean House is a sign of a Lazy Stamper!!" Too cute! Papers are from CTMH. I cut the title out with my Cricut and then ran them thru the cuttlebug to emboss. I loved making this....I've made another canvas which I will post soon. But they're becoming a little addiction. Just like mini books and card making.... I swore I'd not do anything but scrapbook, that I was too far behind to do other stuff.... but c'est la vie! I'm hooked on them all!!
